Who is responsible
Board of Games is an online board game shop at boardofgames.co.uk, operated by the operator of boardofgames.co.uk (“Board of Games”, “we”). We are responsible for the personal information we use to handle orders and customer enquiries.
Privacy questions and data requests: kjsingleton1979@gmail.com.
Browsing and your shopping bag
The shopping bag stores the games, selected options, quantities and displayed prices in your browser’s local storage under “board-of-games-cart”. This keeps your bag available when you return. It does not store card details. Removing the items clears the bag; clearing site data in your browser removes the stored entry.
Browsing also involves requests to the website host and image providers. Those requests reveal connection information such as an IP address and browser information to the services receiving them.
Checkout and orders
When you choose Checkout, the shop sends selected Square product identifiers and quantities to Square to create a payment link. You then complete your purchase on Square’s hosted checkout.
Square’s checkout requests contact, delivery and payment information. We receive the order and contact details needed to fulfil your purchase through our Square account. This storefront does not contain a form for storing your card details.
Read Square’s privacy notice for its own processing, retention and international transfer information.
Why information is used
Order and delivery information is used to perform the purchase contract, including delivery, customer support and returns. Transaction records are also kept to meet legal accounting obligations (see “How long information is kept”). We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not sell it.
Contact preference requests
The contact preferences form collects your email address, chosen preference and any name or notes you provide. These details and the submission date are stored privately in Lovable Cloud so the shop operator can review and handle your request. A submission does not automatically change records held by Square or other services, and it does not sign you up for marketing.
We use this information to handle your enquiry and, where applicable, meet our data protection obligations. Requests are kept only as long as needed to handle them and maintain any necessary record of the preference. Necessary order and privacy messages may still be sent.
Delivery and fulfilment
Orders may be fulfilled by third-party suppliers, currently including CJ Dropshipping and sellers on online marketplaces such as eBay. To deliver your order, we share the recipient’s name, delivery address and necessary contact details with the supplier or carrier handling the delivery — only what is needed to get your order to you.
Some suppliers ship from outside the UK, which can involve an international transfer of delivery information. We aim to work with suppliers that handle personal information in line with UK data protection rules, and we keep the details we pass on to the minimum needed for delivery.
Cookies and external services
The shopping bag uses browser local storage rather than a tracking cookie. Storage strictly necessary for a shopping service requested by you may be exempt from consent requirements; non-essential tracking generally requires consent.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and product images from Square-provided addresses. Those services receive the connection information needed to supply those files. Square’s separate checkout may use its own cookies and storage.
No advertising or analytics tracking is used on this storefront.
How long information is kept
Shopping bag data remains in your browser until it is changed or the site’s stored data is cleared.
Order and payment records are held in our Square account and kept for 5 years, to meet UK tax and accounting obligations. Enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
Your rights and complaints
You may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. These rights depend on the circumstances and may be limited by legal obligations.
To make a request, email kjsingleton1979@gmail.com. See our UK GDPR and data rights page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
